What is Feng Shui?

Feng means 'Wind' and Shui means 'Water'  and is the ancient Chinese method of choosing a place to live.

Feng Shui is not only used to choose locations for domestic houses or business, but also to select sites for capital cities, towns and villages. This is called Yang Feng Shui.

There is also method of choosing a good place to build a grave for the ancestors. This is called Yin Feng Shui.

For Yin Feng Shui burial graves, there are a few styles. This is typical one is from the Southern China. It was built in 1700. More than three hundred years old. And now due to this grave, the offspring numbers are above 100,000. The effect of that is the Birth-water (Birth energy) flowing through in front of the grave.

(The Birth-water technique can be implemented in Yang Feng Shui as well to speed up fertility.)

Feng Shui Grave burial spot

In traditional Chinese's mind, the main purpose of picking a good Yin Feng Shui place for burial the ancestors is to produce good quality, good health, good wealth and as many offspring as possible to the family. That is why China has the most population in the world. I believe that it is due to Yin Feng Shui.

In 1972 year, In China, when I was a young boy, my great grand father’s grave was moved to a better Feng Shui place for burial. It was at that time when things weren’t so open as now. The ceremony was performed at mid-night due to date-selection.

At that time, according to the Feng Shui Master’s calculation, he said the burial place was an excellent Feng Shui Dragon Den and in the future there would be an “Officer” to be born.

My brother was born in 1974. He is now a chief inspector in the Hong Kong Police Force. This is just one of the examples make me devoted to Feng Shui.

The central concept of Feng Shui is "Chi" (Cantonese’s pronunciation) or "Qi" (Mandarin pronunciation). The most simple translation into English is “Energy”. While Chi is invisible, it can embody matter or forms (as in the formula E = MC2). Energy and Matter is interchangeable in much the same way as ice and steam are.

Chi, the Feng Shui Energy is classified into five types: Metal, Water, Wood, Fire, and Earth. Collectively they are called "Wu Xing" or the Five Elements or Five Transformations.

Feng Shui studies “Chi” in relation to a location. Good "Chi" will bring good things to the house such as wealth, health, fame and fortune. On the other hand, bad Chi brings misfortune, illness and even miscarriage. Chi is also influenced by time and can change yearly, monthly, daily and even hourly.

Bad forms or matter will never produce good "Chi."

There are so many Feng Shui schools. Each school has its strength and weakness.
